David Michael Childres

David Michael Childres, 58, of Morganton died Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on April 15, 1953, he was the son of the late Douthit Childers and Beulah Mae Carswell Childers. David was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. He loved his children and grandchildren and will be remembered as a loving husband and "one heck of a father."David is survived by his wife, Glenda Baker Childres of the home; children, Kimberly Childres Davis and husband, Jon, of Raleigh, NC, Michael Childres and wife, Deanna, of Marion, NC, and Bradley Kent Childres and wife, Amanda, of Dillwyn, VA; grandchildren, Hunter Leighton Riley and Jocelyn Michaela Childres; brothers, Glenn Childres and wife, Kathryn, of Morganton, James Allen Childers of Casar, NC, and Chris Childers and wife, Jackie, of Morganton; numerous nieces and nephews; and a long-time friend, Keith Marshall of Forest City, NC.Graveside services will be held at 1:15 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2012 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bradley Childres officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Drawer 1580, Morganton, NC 28680.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
