David "Moran" Chapman

David "Moran" Chapman, 83, of Pax Hill Road in Morganton, NC died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Burke Palliative Care Center following a period of declining health. He was born May 17, 1925 in Burke County, NC, and was a son of the late John Chapman and Dalzie Kincaid Chapman. Moran was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and loved all of life.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruby Ellen Hartness Chapman of the home; a daughter, Lu Ellen Teague and husband, Randy, of Morganton; a son, Michael Chapman and his wife, Nancy, of Asheville, NC; a grandson, David Chapman of Knoxville, TN; brothers, John T. Chapman of Shelby, NC, and Marlie Chapman of Morganton; and a sister, Annie Mae Burns of Morganton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Hersel and Roy Chapman.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Valdese American Legion Post #234. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
