David R. Beach

David R. Beach, 63, of Morganton died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 following a period of declining health. He was born in Burke County on September 19, 1948 and was a son of Mary Barrier Beach of Drexel and the late Ernest Alexis Beach, Jr. In addition to his father, David was preceded in death by a brother, James Andrew Beach, Sr. and by his sister, Brenda Gail Beach.David was a veteran of the U. S. Navy was a retired employee of Drexel-Heritage Furnishings where he worked for 34 years. Following his retirement, he worked at Griffith Security. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, and since his childhood he flew model airplanes.Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Shelia Cook Beach of the home; sons, Jeffery R. Beach of the home and his fiancée, Kristen Biddix, and Daniel C. Beach and his wife, Lisa, whom David affectionately called "The Baby" of Morganton; a brother, Phillip L. Beach and his wife, Rhonda, of Roxboro, NC; sister-in-law, Greetle Beach of Connelly Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. L. Stanley Glover officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Casar with military honors conducted by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Sossoman Funeral Home.
