David S. Mitchell

David S. Mitchell, 64, of Kingwood, TX, formerly of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, January 6, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 4, 1951, he was the son of James Conley Mitchell of Morganton and the late Betty Lou Sloan Mitchell.  David was a member of First Baptist Church in Morganton.  He was a 1974 graduate of the University of Alabama and was a sales representative for Hancock and Moore Furniture Company.

In addition to his father, Mr. Mitchell is survived by his brother, Jimmy Mitchell and his wife, Rebecca, of Jamestown, NC; a nephew, Trey Mitchell; a niece, Jenny Vestal and her husband, Lee; a great-nephew, Spencer Vestal; and a great-niece, Gracie Vestal.

In addition to his mother, David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Sloan.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Burke Memorial Park.  The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating.  The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
