David Wayne Mooney, 67, of Morganton, NC, passed away at home on Friday, September 20, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on February 17, 1957, he was the son of the late David Oliver Mooney and Kathryn Mae Keller Mooney. David was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle who loved to cook.

Mr. Mooney is survived by his wife, Janie Mooney; son, Wesley Mooney; sister, Kathy Alexander (Don); nieces, Laura Teague (Scott) and Amy Alexander Clark (Jim); great-nephews, Addison Poteat and Asa Alexander-Clark; and his faithful canine companion, Louie.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
