Davis "Allen" Phillips

Davis "Allen" Phillips, 78, of Morganton, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on February 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Davis Gaston Phillips and Corrie Hildebran Phillips. Allen was a veteran of the Army National Guard and retired as a master carpenter from J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family, including his two pets: Marley and Sambo.Allen is survived by his loving wife, Linda C. Phillips of the home; daughters, Johna Phillips Campbell and her fiancé, David Bass, of Raleigh, NC and Donna Phillips Fullerton and her husband, Steve, of Grand Junction, CO; step-daughters, Renée Leonhardt and her husband, Stan, and Angie Ross, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Nicole Ladde and her husband, Dr. Jay Ladde, of FL, Shane and Kyle Fullerton of NM, Ashley, Michael, and Pvt. Dakota Campbell, all of Morganton, and Grace, Emma, and Davis Kincaid, all of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Mia Ladde of FL; a sister, Margaret Stark of Morganton; and Josh Kincaid, whom he raised as a son.In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Phillips Kincaid.A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Chaplain Michael Costner and the Rev. Kevin Uhrich officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard.
