Committal
Dea Woodie Lloyd, 66, of Drexel, NC, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 after a courageous, four-year battle with cancer. Born in Burke County, NC on January 14, 1957, she was the daughter of Rodney Allen Woodie and the late Irene Bowman Woodie.
In addition to her father, Dea is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dean Lloyd; sons, Michael Lloyd (Megan) and Zachary Lloyd (Linda); grandchildren, Makenna, Madison, and Lucas Lloyd; brothers, Bruce and Kevin Woodie; nephew, Taylor Woodie; and niece, Maddie Woodie.
Dea was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she led the choir and served as the church administrator for over 30 years. Dea was meticulous in her desire for perfect organization in all things. She loved God, loved her family, and dearly loved her grandchildren “to the moon and back.” She enjoyed going to the beach and being with her close family and friends. She also had a special love for her dog, Kenzi, and her granddogs, Tilly and Zoe.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2023 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Rex Shaver officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
