Della Burnette

Della Burnette, 65, of Glen Alpine, NC died unexpectedly Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her residence. Born February 14, 1947 in McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Otis Burnette and Leona Henderson Burnette. Della was a member of Morganton Wesleyan Church. She was an avid reader, and enjoying baking for her family. Her greatest passion in life was being a nurse and helping other people.A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Della is survived by sons, Robert Barrier and wife, Angela, James "Shorty" Lee Burnette, and Martin Otis Barrier and wife, Jan, all of Morganton; daughters, Elsie Leona Farris and Kimberly Burnette, both of Morganton; a brother, Charles Albert Burnette of Morganton; sisters, Wanda Grace Lane and RosaLee Carneal, both of Morganton; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Della was preceded in death by one brother, James William Burnette.A Celebration of Life service in loving memory of Della Burnette will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Ed Stephenson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Robert Barrier, Powerhouse Rd., Morganton.
