Committal
Dennis Wayne Chapman, 59, of Morganton went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Born in Burke County on November 19, 1958 he was the son of the late Kenneth and Sarah Chapman. Dennis loved being a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Morganton and took it as his privilege and duty to tell others about what Jesus had done for him. Dennis was a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful friend, but his grandchildren were the lights of his life.
Left to cherish his memory and waiting on that glad reunion day are his wife, Delorise Chapman; daughters, Brandy Bender and husband, Gary, and Jennifer Painter and husband, Steven; step-daughter, Melanie Bowden; grandchildren, Hunter Chapman, Brittney Bender, Sarah Painter, Haleigh Painter, and Hannah Bowden; brothers, Gene, Bobby, and Darrell Chapman; and sister, Wilma McCurry.
In addition to his parents, rejoicing with him in Glory are his brothers, June, Roger, and Steve Chapman, sister, Carolyn Gladden; and step daughter, Amber Bowden.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Pastor Steven Painter and Preacher Dwight Lowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In honor of his grandchildren he loved so dearly, memorial contributions can be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Youth Program, 7620 Watershed Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
