Dermont Berry

Dermont Berry, 85, of Morganton, NC went to be with his Heavenly Family on Friday, December 16, 2011. Born in Burke County, NC on April 11, 1926, he was the son of the late Lance Berry and Luella Thompson Berry. Dermont was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, and was a member of the Burke County American Legion. He retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation after 35 years and was very supportive of the Humane Society and the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission.Dermont is survived by numerous cousins and friends, and a special friend, David Keller.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2011 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until 1:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.Memorial contributions may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals, P.O.
