Derryl George Fox, 82, of the Longtown Community in Nebo, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 6, 2023.
Born on July 7, 1940 in Burke County, NC, he was the son of the late Charlie Fox (wife, Oma Jewel) and Vergie Ann Powell Abner (Nola).
Derryl attended Calvary Church and was a 1958 graduate of Waterford Township High School in Michigan. He was talented in many areas, especially welding and grading. Derryl enjoyed being outdoors and camping, and he retired from SGL Carbon after 29 years.
Mr. Fox is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Geraldine Whisnant Fox; daughters, Debra (Jerry) and Crystal (Kevin); sons, Gary and Brian (Micki); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a soon to be great-great-grandchild; brothers, Donald (late wife, June), Curtis (Robin), and Manley (Cel); sister, Loretta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Derryl was preceded in death by a son, Shannon; infant children, Charles and Linda; granddaughter, Danielle; great-grandson, Levi; and brother, Arnold.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Calvary Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastor Danny Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Amorem Hospice and the compassionate care provided by Brooke, Mary, Patsy, and Amber.

So sorry for your loss, my husband, Art, worked with Derryl @ SGL for many years, he did some work for us at our house m years ago. My husband passed away 2 years ago. I bet Derryl and Art have already seen each other in Heaven. Sending thoughts and Prayers 🙏🙏
