Dewie Lee Shuffler

Dewie Lee Shuffler, 70, of Morganton, NC passed away and went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 1, 2012 at his residence following a short period of declining health. Born May 10, 1942 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late Claudus Christopher Shuffler and Purvy Mull Shuffler. He worked as a sales representative at Carolina Shoe for 38 years, and was an avid golfer.A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Dewie is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Edna Frances Padgett Shuffler of the home; sons, Gregory Lee Shuffler and Travis Richard Shuffler, both of Morganton; a daughter, Kelly Shuffler Jones and husband, Daryl, of Greensboro; a sister, Pansy Allen of Charlotte; a special granddaughter, Emily Jones; and his best friend, David Gene Drury of Morganton.In addition to his parents, Dewie was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Melvin Shuffler; and a sister, Geneva Williams.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Bob Deviney officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour before the service.
