Dian Ramsey, 71, of Morganton, NC, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Burke County, NC on February 3, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lee “C.L.” Brittain, Jr. and Inez Rust Brittain. Dian was an active, 20-year member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. Her duties at the church included church clerk, assistant vacation bible school director, teaching and writing curriculum for Sunday school grades 4-6, teaching Awana, teaching International Mission Study, counselor with medical ministry team, choir member, playing saxophone in the orchestra, assisting with Wednesday meals, financial committee, evangelism committee, nominating committee, prayer calendar coordinator, music secretary, church hostess assistant, WMU, and attending several mission trips to Ukraine and Malta. She also volunteered at the Toy Store of the Catawba River Baptist Association. Dian was a registered nurse who worked at various hospitals and nursing homes in the area.
Dian is survived by her sister, DeLea Payne and husband, Dr. Danny Payne; son, Christopher “Kyle” Ramsey; second cousins, T.C. and Phyllis Rust; third cousins, Christopher Tate Rust, Robert Tate Rust, and David Lee Rust; and numerous other cousins.
In addition to her parents, Dian was preceded in death by grandparents, Dwight and Estelle Rust and Charles “Charlie” Brittain, Sr. and Thelma Brittain.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Mt. Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with the Revs. Jerry Gamble and Marcus Farmer officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals or the Toy Store at the Catawba River Baptist Association.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
