Diana Crane Harris

Diana Crane Harris, 82, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, August 7, 2017.  Born near Crawfordsville, Indiana on September 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Crane, Sr. and Alice Wright Crane.  The loves of her life were family, friends, and many “kids”, now mostly adults, that she cared for in her home day care for so many years.

Diana is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carl Edward Harris of the home; son, Gary Harris and wife, Amy of Hickory, NC; daughter, Francine H. York and husband, Ronnie of Morganton; grandsons, Brian D. York and wife, Jennifer of High Point, NC, Jeremy S. York and wife, Sharon of Huntersville, NC; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Michael York, Reagan Eliana York, Merritt Elizabeth York, and Cambrie Caroline York.  Also surviving are her brother, Jesse Crane, Jr. of Big Spring, Texas, and very special friend, Terry Mull Harris.

In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her eldest grandson, Michael Harris.

A very special thanks to the staff and physicians of Frye Regional Medical Center and Burke Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate care giving.

The family will receive friends from 11 a .m. to 12 noon, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Butch Osborne and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating.
