Dolores Ann "Lois" Hemphill Throneburg, 57, of Muddy Creek Rd., Morganton died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Grace Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Burke County on October 25, 1951 and was the daughter of Mae Inez Hemphill of Morganton and the late Richard Guy Hemphill. Dolores was a U. S. Navy veteran, previously owned and operated Wild Country Styling Salon, and also worked at Broughton Hospital. She was a former member of Bridgewater Presbyterian Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church.Surviving in addition to her mother are her son and his wife, Richard Adam and Stephanie Mingle Throneburg; her brother and his wife, Richard and Shirley Clark Hemphill; her former husband, David Gary Throneburg, all of Morganton; her Uncle Vernon Powell, her Aunt Bennie Bailey, two nieces, Djuna Acker and Ledonna Good, and numerous cousins; and good friends, Charlie Taylor and Robert Anderson.In addition to her father, Dolores was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Bridgewater Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. At other times the family will at the homes of her mother, Inez Hemphill, Muddy Creek Road or her son, Richard Adam Throneburg, Surrey Drive, Morganton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Office Manager, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
