Dolores Brown, 70, of Morganton passed away after a recent illness on March 25, 2014. She was born at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC, on January 16, 1944. She was the daughter of Clifford Branch who was retired from the U.S. Army. Dolores was a retired paralegal who was employed by the U.S. Attorney General Office in Miami, FL, as well as by several law firms in Atlanta, GA. Dolores was the sister of Mrs. James Taylor Vernon (Morganton) and Neil Branch (San Diego, CA).Dolores was preceded in death by her late husband Donald Brown, a daughter, April Brown, and two brothers, Raymond and Irving Branch, as well as her niece and nephew, Deanna Branch and Jonathan Kirk, respectively.She is survived by her son, Donnie Wright (Donnie Rae) and grandson Kristopher of Atlanta, GA. Over the past several years, Dolores resided in Morganton with her devoted sister, Mrs. Vernon and loving niece, Amy Ruggles. She was loved by all who were fortunate to have known her, especially her close friends, Belinda Carpenter and Hannah Rhodes. Dolores was surrounded by close friends and family, including her nephew, Scott Kirk (Mina) of Dallas, TX, her nieces, Amy Ruggles, Virginia Fletcher ((Bill) East Bend, NC) and Donna Branch (Ft. Meyers, FL), as well as her many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews who were completely devoted to her during her last days.A private celebration of life ceremony will be held at Mrs. Vernon’s home in Morganton, followed by a private, graveside service in Cartersville, GA.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Burke Hospice and Palliative Care at 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton and Owen Funeral Home in Cartersville are assisting the family.
