Donald “Donnie” Eugene Odom, Sr.

Donald “Donnie” Eugene Odom, Sr., 73, of Valdese, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2024.

Born in Catawba County, NC on May 12, 1951, he was the son of the late Floyd Oscar Odom and Betty Jean Day Odom.

Donnie was a member of Cajah’s Mountain Baptist Church. He was a gifted artist and began his career as a sign painter. He then became an automotive body technician and was very passionate about his work. He was also good with his hands and could build anything. Donnie loved the Lord and his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Odom was a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed slot-car racing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Connie Odom and Donnie Odom, Jr.; grandchildren, Hunter, Christina, Stephanie, and Corey; brother, Dennis Odom (Karla); sister, Debbie Odom Gragg (Larry); niece, Kelley Baker (Andrew); nephews, Kirk Odom (Amanda) and George Dula; numerous extended family; and many special friends from the Model Car Junkyard.

In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his children’s mother, Patricia “Patsy” Diane Odom; wife, Mona Odom; and daughter, Crystal Dawn Odom.

At Donnie’s request, there will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cajah’s Mountain Baptist Church’s Faith Promise Mission.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
