Donald Eugene Carswell

Donald Eugene Carswell, 65, of Morganton died Wednesday, September 19, 2018.  Born in Burke County, NC on June 6, 1953, he was the son of Sylvannes Carswell and the late Grace Elizabeth Carswell.  Donald was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was a perfect role model.  He also enjoyed working outdoors.

Donald is survived by his wife, Judy Buff Carswell of the home; sons, Jodie Carswell and Timothy Carswell (Amy), both of Morganton; grandchildren, Corey Carswell (Taylor), Gracie Carswell, Garret Carswell, David Miller, and Tucker Carswell; and sisters, Naomi Carswell Chapman (Bobby) and Sandra Carswell Buff (Dean), all of Morganton.

In addition to his mother, Donald was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cheyenne Whisenant.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 23 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Revs. Larry Combs and Mark Hensley officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.  At other times the family will be at the residence in Morganton.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
