Donald G. Baker

Donald G. Baker, 80, of Windy Hill Hollow, Morganton, died Friday, May 21, 2010 at Grace Hospital. He was born January 22, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, to the late John David Baker and Lucille Yoder Baker. Donald was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. He was retired from Martin-Marietta and a member of the Morganton Moose Lodge #197.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Olivie Anderson "Snookie" Baker.Donald is survived by sons, Donald Baker, Jr. and Ronald Baker both of California; brothers, Glenn Baker of Florida and Thomas Baker of Ohio; six step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. George W. McCullough, III officiating, with military honors being provided by Valdese American Legion Post #234. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
