Donald Lee Basham, 79, of Morganton died Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Born in Raleigh, WV on January 28, 1941, he was the son of the late William M. Basham and Daisy May McCoy Basham. Donald was a veteran of the US Army and attended Closer Walk with God Worship Center. He enjoyed music, singing at church, playing guitar, and fishing. He loved his family.
Donald is survived by his wife, Sallie H. Wagoner Basham of the home; daughter, Melissa Isaacs; son, Donald Basham, Jr. (Victoria); grandchildren, Will Basham, Mallie Morris, and Aaliyah Morris; step-daughter, Tammy Handy; step-son, Tim Handy (Sandi); grandchildren, Tracy Handy, Makenna Handy, and Katie Handy; brothers, Kenny and Fred Basham; and sisters, Rachel Benfield and Gladys Harmon.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by three sisters, Reva Cooper, Mary Collins, and Irene Perdue; and two brothers, Frank and William Basham, Jr.
Services for Mr. Basham will be private.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
