Donald “Little Don” Merring, Jr.

Donald “Little Don” Merring, Jr., 40, of Morganton, NC passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, October 28, 2016 while surrounded by his family.  Born in Orange County, NY on October 8, 1976, he was the son of Donald Merring and Helen Bowman, both of Connelly Springs, NC.  Don moved to Burke County in 2010 and was part of the Burkemont Baptist family.  He was proud of being a long distance truck driver and was currently employed at the Burke County Landfill.  Don was a friend to all who met him and his gentle nature and warm smile made everyone feel special.  The proudest moment of his life was when he married his wife, Tedi, and his greatest accomplishments are their four daughters.

Don is survived by his wife, Mercedes “Tedi” Henkel-Merring of the home; four daughters, Destiny, Gabrielle, Dakota, and Jasmine Merring; sisters, Jessica Merring of Connelly Springs, Crystal Merring of Montrose, PA, and Victoria Merring of Connelly Springs; a brother, Joshua Merring of Connelly Springs; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by a sister, Kristie Robinson.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 4 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Burkemont Baptist Church.  A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 31 at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655 to assist with funeral expenses.
