Donald R. "Donnie" Smith

Donald R. "Donnie" Smith, 56, of River Road, Morganton, NC died Tuesday, May 2, 2011 at his residence. Born on March 27, 1955, he was a son of Frank D. Smith of Morganton and the late Mary Ruby Penley Smith. Donnie attended Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church.In addition to his father, Donnie is survived by a brother, Glen Edward Smith of Morganton; three nephews; and one niece.

Donnie was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank C. Smith, Jr.The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Danny McNeilly officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
