Donald Robert Lowdermilk, 81, of Morganton, NC, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
Born in Burke County, NC on January 2, 1941, he was the son of the late John Edwin Lowdermilk and Dora Stines Lowdermilk. Donald was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Chesterfield Ruritan, where he held several administrative positions. He retired from Burke County Waste Management. He was a loving father who was proud of his grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his son, Eddie Lowdermilk (Tonya); grandchildren, Katie and Cameron Lowdermilk; brothers, Larry R. Lowdermilk and Jack E. Lowdermilk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Wright Lowdermilk; and sisters, Wanda Buff and Jeanette Higgins.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery on Dysartsville Road. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
