Donald Robert Markey, age 41, passed away on July 26, 2020 in Groveland, Florida. He was born on April 30, 1979 in Kettering, Ohio, and baptized at the Tuskawilla United Methodist Church. He graduated from South Lake High School in 1998. He then attended Lake Technical College, where he completed the Firefighter/Medical Technician program and pursued a career in public safety. He was an EMT, serving the Central Florida area. Thereafter, he worked for the Walt Disney Company, as well as owned and managed South Lake Tree Farm in Groveland.
Donnie was an incredible athlete and sportsman. At a young age, he excelled at baseball, basketball, football, dirt biking, water skiing, golf and fishing. He played for several Allstar teams in baseball and basketball. He loved spending time at the beach, surfing with his friends, and fishing at Jetty Park and the Cocoa Beach pier. As an adult, he was an avid outdoorsman, and was an outstanding hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed participating in bass fishing tournaments, collecting baseball cards, and spending time with his children.
Donnie will be forever remembered for the joy he brought to his family, his humor, hard work ethic, selflessness, and being a very proud father.
Donnie is survived by his children Brittney and Robbie Markey, and their mother Holly; his son Tytan Markey; his parents Don and Jill Markey, his sister Christine Markey; his brother Justin Markey, his brother in-law Michael Catalano; his sister-in-law Natalie Markey, his nephews Christian, Jacob, Joseph, Bryan, Lee Michael, Jesse, and Jackson; his niece Caroline, his aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
