Donald "Tom" Stillwell

Donald "Tom" Stillwell, 70, of Morganton died Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Mission Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Burke County, NC on September 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Bud Stillwell and Hettie Waters Stillwell. Tom was a former employee of Great Lakes Carbon, Hendredon, and Kraftknit, and he had worked in construction. Tom farmed and was a handyman. His passion in life was gardening and going to Morehead City to fish.Tom is survived by his wife, Cecilia Settlemyre Stillwell of the home; sons, Scott Edwin Stillwell and his wife, Krista, and Todd Stillwell and his wife, Julie, all of Morganton; granddaughters, Emily Lauren Stillwell and Heather Leanne Stillwell; and a sister, Linda Duncan of Morganton.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. David Orders officiating.
