Doris Rose McDaniel

Doris Rose McDaniel, 87, of Morganton died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Burke Palliative Care Center. She was born in Avery County, NC on July 17, 1925 and was a daughter of the late Clate Carl Rose and Ora Singleton Rose. In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jim V. McDaniel, and by a sister, Mae Rose Brown. She a former employee of Henredon Furniture Co. and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.Surviving are her daughters, Darcie M Woods of Lexington, SC and Betty M. Landers of Morganton; grandchildren, Jeff, Jennifer, and Rick Landers, James "Woody" Woods, Kathy Woods Whittle, and Wilbur Woods; great-grandchildren, Zeke, Elijah, Esther, Anna, Lynne, Rebekah, Michelle, and Christopher; brothers, Kenneth Rose of Morganton and Jason Rose of Nebo; and sisters, Vera Johnson of Buies Creek, Margaret Burgess of Morganton, and Kathleen Barrier of Jonas Ridge. She also leaves behind her faithful canine companions, Ruby and Smokey.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013 at Calvin Heights Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Larry Cline officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2396 Enola Rd., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
