Doris Sigmon Moore

Doris Sigmon Moore, 89, died Monday, September 20, 2010 following a period of declining health. She was born in Burke County on November 16, 1920 and was a daughter of the late John Sherman Sigmon and Ethel Irene Deal Sigmon. Mrs. Moore was a member of First Church of God, Drexel.Surviving are brothers, Ralph Sigmon of Drexel and Ned Sigmon of Valdese; sisters, Ruth Hackney of Lenoir, TN and Martha Scalf of Valdese; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ero Stokes Moore; brothers, Alfred, John, Earl, and Lewis Sigmon; and by sisters, Nadine Erickson and Velma Henley.The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2010 at First Church of God, Drexel with Rev. Don Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Warner Southern College, 13895 Hwy 27, Lake Wales, FL 33859. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
