Doris Smith Sparkman

Doris Smith Sparkman, 79, of Morganton, NC died Monday, October 6, 2014. She was born on November 19, 1934 in Columbus County, NC to the late Sheldon Sanford Smith and Inez Bass Smith. Doris was retired from Broughton Hospital. She was a founding member of Morganton Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a Sunday school teacher for 35 years. Doris was a loving wife, mother and faithful grandmother who loved her family, God and all her friends.

She is survived by a son, Lemuel Sparkman of Morganton; grandchildren, Kristina Neimer, Paul "Tre" Pritchard, III, and Travis Pritchard; six great-grandsons; brothers, Billy Smith and Claude Smith; and sisters, Bessie Little and Hilda Batten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Howard Sparkman; a son, Eddie Sparkman; a daughter, Patricia Ann Sparkman Collins; and a brother, Dewey Smith.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Conley Road Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Kenneth Milan, Rev. Rocky Reese and Rev. Bill Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
