Dorothea Lowman Mull

Dorothea Lowman Mull, 86, of Valdese died Saturday, March 2, 2013 after a period of declining health. Mrs. Mull was born October 23, 1926 in Toomsboro, Georgia to the late Will Davis Lowman and Dorothy Flora Lowman. She was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church most of her life. Mrs. Mull was an accomplished seamstress, former employee of Morganton Full Fashion, and retired from Broughton Hospital with over 30 years of service. She loved making quilts and afghans for family members and was also an avid gardener.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Gray Mull; brothers, Leroy Lowman, Murray "Bug" Lowman; sisters, Margie Smart, Mary Proveaux and Venita Burton.Mrs. Mull is survived by a daughter, Diann Mull Grady and husband, Don of Valdese; grand-daughter, Roslyn Grady Phipps and husband, Joe of Morganton; brother, Alfred L. Lowman and wife, Dottie of Connelly Springs; sister Winsome "Tots" Huffman of Valdese and Betty Sue Shay and husband, Mike of Jacksonville, NC; sister-in-law, Dot Lowman and a number of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.A celebration of Mrs. Mull’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Mt. Home Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Memorial contribution may be made to Mt.
