Dorothy Branch Robinson

Dorothy Branch Robinson, 88, formerly of Burkemont Ave., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, August 20, 1010 at Autumn Care of Drexel. A native of Burke County, she was born at Table Rock, NC on July 13, 1922 to the late Thomas Monroe Branch and Susan Beck Branch. Dorothy graduated from Morganton High School and married Lloyd G. Robinson of Celo, Yancey County, NC. She was a medical secretary for many years, working for Dr. Helms, Dr. Barron, and Doctors Lindquist and Hamer. Following her retirement she channeled her interested to different arts and crafts, most notably her paintings, which are cherished by various members of her family and her friends.Dorothy was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Morganton and was very active in church work for many years.She is survived by her son, Lloyd Ervin Robinson and wife, Jane, of Pinehurst, NC; grandsons, John Robinson and wife, Karen, of Hickory, NC, Myron Robinson of Linville Falls, NC, and Kevin Robinson and wife, Laura, of Pinehurst, NC; six great-grandchildren; and two beloved nieces, Irene Conley Fleming and Hope Williams Franklin.In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd G. Robinson; five brothers; and two sisters.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
