Dorothy Chapman Cook, 72, of Connelly Springs went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2019. Born on August 31, 1947 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Hamilton Cook and Sharlene Chapman Pruiett.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Carl “Crick” Cook; and two sisters, Bonnie Pruiett Fredell and Joey Pruiett.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, William Carl Swink and wife, Mollie, of Shelby, Amanda Carlene Cook of South Mountain, and Lucy Cook Church and husband, Wayne, of Valdese; grandchildren, Citori Nicole Swink, Jacob William Swink, and John Thomas Swink, all of Shelby; brothers, Clyde Leonard Pruiett of South Mountain, Glen Garfield Pruiett and wife, Connie, of Morganton, Alvin Eugene Pruiett and wife, Pat, of South Mountain, Howard Lee Pruiett of Texas, Perry Dean Pruiett and wife, Angela, of Hickory, and Michael Allen Pruiett and wife, Edith, of Drexel; sisters, Faye Pruiett Hamby and husband, Phillip, of Polksville and Brenda Pruiett Dionne and husband, Willard, of Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2019 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Tim Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in in Forest Hill Cemetery.
