On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Dorothy Clarissa Felder, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 92. Dorothy Clarissa Felder was a woman with many names throughout her life: “Little Dorothy”, daughter, sister, Chris, wife, mama, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother but her most cherished name was Mawmaw.
Chris was born on October 15, 1928 in Morganton, North Carolina. She married James Alfred Felder and they raised one son, James Cecil and two daughters, Patsy Elaine and Dorothy Gertrude. Chris was fiercely dedicated to her family. She made each person in her family feel like you were “The Favorite.” The greatest gift you can give anyone is your undivided attention and Chris devoted her entire life to being attentive to her family. She loved Elvis and attended a live concert. She was known for her quick wit and sharp mind due to the millions of crossword puzzles and books read. She was a strong woman with a big heart and never met a stranger. Her infectious laugh and smile could light up any room. Her cat, Peaches, was her constant companion and would call her by name “Maw-Maw.”
She is survived by her loving son, James Cecil Felder (Dianne) of Charlotte, NC; devoted daughter, Pat Pruitt (Darrell) of Morganton, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Clarissa was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Blackburn, two brothers Bon and Joette Blackburn and her husband, James Alfred Felder and her daughter Dorothy Gantt Drescher.
The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Boone officiating.
