Dorothy Conley Moore

Dorothy Conley Moore, 92, of the Oak Hill Community, Morganton, NC went home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Simon Bean Conley and Emma Mae Lowdermilk Conley.  Dorothy was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for 54 years. 

A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Moore is survived by her children, James “Sonny” Moore and his wife, Mabel, Patricia “Pat” Noles and her husband, James, Sue Patton and her husband, Ben, and Ronnie Moore and his wife, Paula, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Greg Moore, Jamie Cline and her husband, Gary, Cindy Griffin and her husband, Jamie, Chad Moore and his wife, Katie, Jodie Bartlett and her husband, Chris, and Tyler Moore; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Occie Ollis and Mildred Kanipe, both of Morganton; and sisters-in-law, Ginny Conley and Frances Conley.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Moore; brothers, Dewey, Everette, and Bill Conley; and a sister, Ruby Keller.

The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Rose and Dr. Steve Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
