Dorothy “Dot” Longshore Stamey, 88, of Morganton, NC entered the kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, June 19, 2016. Dot was born in Burke County, NC on April 28, 1928 to the late Marion Davis Longshore and Clara Mae Mull Longshore.
Mrs. Stamey was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church on Bethel Road and a
Sunday school teacher for more than fifty years. Dot was a loving mother to her daughter. She deeply cared for her neighbors and graciously shared and gave whatever she could. For forty years, Dot enjoyed her time as a substitute teacher for Burke County Public Schools.
Mrs. Stamey is survived by her daughter, Susan Stamey Duncan and husband, Glenn of Valdese.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stamey was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Stamey and brother, Ralph Longshore.
The graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church on Bethel Road with Rev. Butch Osborne officiating. Receiving of friends will follow in the church fellowship hall.
