Dorothy Smith Brown

Dorothy Smith Brown, 79, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 in Albemarle, NC after a prolonged illness. Born on June 5, 1933 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jerome Jeremiah Smith and Ellen Clark Smith. As a homemaker, Dorothy raised her family in southern part of Burke County.Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sonja Brown Ginger and her husband, Jerry, of Mt. Gilead, NC; a grandson, Travis Howie and his wife, Kim, of Concord, NC; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, and Kortney Howie.In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Tellis Bollinger, Luther Bollinger, Conley Bollinger, Robert Smith, Garfield Smith, Clyde Smith, Wilson Smith, and Paul Smith; and sisters, Mozella Smith, Mary Bollinger Buff, and Clara Smith Benton.The graveside service will be held at 2:15 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev.
