Douglas Allen Barnett

Douglas Allen Barnett, Sr., 77, of Grace Ridge, Morganton, NC died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Born in Baton Rouge, LA on March 11, 1932, he was the son of the late John Barnett and Emma Adelia Rowan Barnett. Douglas was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where he was a past choir-master and organist.Mr. Barnett is survived by his sons, Allen Barnett and wife, Janet, of Pattersonville, NY, and Thomas Barnett and wife, Bonnie, of Morganton; and grandchildren, Johnathan DeRosa Barnett, Zachary Ryan Barnett, and Charles Nichols Barnett.In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lowrie Norwood Barnett, and brothers, John Barnett and Ralph Owen Barnett.The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Bruce Walker officiating. The family will receive friends the in church fellowship hall following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 303 S.
