Douglas Bruce Terry, Sr.

Douglas Bruce Terry, Sr., 67, of Morganton, NC, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015. He was born in Burke County on October 7, 1948 to the late Ernest Edgar Terry and Ruby Mae Clarke Terry. He attended Zion Baptist Church and loved to watch wrestling with his friend and caretaker, “Dirk.” In addition to his parents, Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his siblings, Herndon Clarke Terry, Edgar Ernest Terry, Shirley Ann Terry Alspaugh, Melvin Grant Terry and Jackson Eugene Terry.
He is survived by his son, Douglas Bruce Terry, Jr. of Morganton; siblings, Martha Jo Shuffler, Charles Wayne Terry and Nancy Terry Gragg; a number of nieces and nephews; and the mother of his son, Peggy Woods.
A gathering of friends will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, Friday, November 13, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home in Morganton. Burial will follow at 2:15pm at Burke Memorial Park with the Rev. Keith Rose and nephew, Wes Shuffler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
