Douglas R. McMinn

Douglas R. McMinn, 66, of Bill Epley Avenue in Morganton died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Asheville Specialty Hospital in Asheville following a period of declining health. He was born December 16, 1943 in Lake County, Illinois, and was a son of the late Kenneth Fairford McMinn and Anna Irene Urban McMinn. Douglas was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a former employee of Tool Craft in Marion, NC.He is survived by his wife, Linda Clark McMinn of the home; children, Bryan McMinn and Kimberly McMinn Qualls and husband, Jonathan, all of Dunedin, FL; step-children, Chris Meyers and Kimmie Hughes of Morganton; a sister, Geraldine Simon of Sandy, Utah; a brother, Roland "Budge" McMinn of Huntington Beach, California; and grandchildren, James Edwin Torplund Qualls, Skylar McMinn, Parker McMinn, Hannah Hughes, and Nick Costner; and nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by two brothers.Services will be held at a later date in Florida. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
