Dr. Herron Sanders "Sam" Pearson, 65, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at his residence. Born November 24, 1946 in Nashville, TN, he was a son of the late David Mayo Pearson, Sr. and Lillian Robinson Pearson. Sam completed pre-veterinary studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and was a graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. Since 1975, he had practiced veterinary medicine in Morganton and was a partner with Dr. Don Hemstreet in Morganton Animal Clinic. He served on the Board of the Burke County Health Department, the Board of LifeGains, a member and past President of Piedmont Veterinary Medical Association, a District Representative for the N.C. Veterinary Medical Board of Directors, a Life Member of the N.C. Veterinary Medical Association. Sam was a former member of the Morganton Rotary Club and a founding member of the West Union Bike Club.Surviving are his wife, Linda King Pearson of the home; sons, Douglas H. Pearson and his wife, Sarah of Hendersonville, NC and Benjamin N. Pearson and his wife, Dorothy of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Lillian, Julia, and Alexandra Pearson; brother, David M. Pearson, Jr. and his wife, Louise of Jackson, TN; sister, M. Susan Pearson of Scottsdale, AZ; nephew, John Pearson and his wife, Carrie of Glenville, NY; and a niece, Robin Gorman of Tullahoma, TN.A service to celebrate Sam’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday November 3, 2012 at Grace Episcopal Church with The Reverend Lawrence A. Britt officiating. The family will gather in the church parish hall at 1:00 p.m. to greet friends until time for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Grace Episcopal Church Building Fund, 303 S. King St., Morganton, NC 28655.
