Dr. Robert Barrett Gahagan

Dr. Robert Barrett Gahagan, Sr., 84, of Morganton, NC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Grace Hospital. Born in Fairfax, VA on December 8, 1923, he was the son of the late Robert Todd Gahagan and Millicent Larue Barrett Gahagan. He was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church.A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia Hamaker Gahagan; two sons, Robert Barrett Gahagan, Jr. and wife, LuAnn, of Norfolk, VA, John Frederick Gahagan and wife, Judith, of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Patricia Stuart Winfree and husband, William Joseph, of Richmond; and grandchildren, Robert Barrett Gahagan, III, Jennifer Colleen Winfree, and Joseph Todd Winfree.In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, James Gahagan.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church with Rev Dr. Mike Odum and Rev. W. Joseph Winfree officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will held at 3:00 p.m, Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catawba Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 107 Valley View Street, Morganton, NC 28655.
