Durline Buff Sprouse Waters

Durline Buff Sprouse Waters, 78, of Morganton died Sunday, July 20, 2014. She was born in Burke County on August 15, 1935 and was a daughter of the late John and Swannie Causby Buff. Durline worked at Drexel-Heritage Furniture for 18 years and then worked as a security guard at Cone Mills in Forest City for 20 years before her retirement. She was a member of Fork Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Waters; her first husband, David Sprouse; son, Danny Ray Sprouse; daughters, Dinah Kay Reese and Della Christine Estep; and by a brother, John Obie Buff.

She is survived by a daughter, Doris Mayline Boone and a brother, Woodrow Buff both of Morganton; a sister, Shirley McDaniels of Glen Alpine; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. July 22, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Cogdell officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Temple Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Doris Boone.
