Ed Galey, Sr.

Ed Galey, Sr., 70, of Morganton, NC died Monday, June 16, 2014. He was born in Lexington, Mississippi on January 15, 1944 and was the son of the late Henry "Buck" Franklin Galey and Beulah Mae Lehman Galey. Ed was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and enjoyed auctioneering.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Galey of the home; his children, Chrystal Bell and her husband, Sean, and Ed Galey, Jr. all of Morganton; grandchildren, Victoria Bell, Ashley Bell, Sarah Galey, and Carol Anne Galey; great-grandchildren, Amara Houpe and Alesana Houpe; and sisters, Barbara McCorkle of Vaiden, MS and Aliene Downs of Black Hawk, MS and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Bowie.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Yvonne Thurmond officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690 or to Quaker Meadows Presbyterian Church, 2698 NC Hwy 181, Morganton, NC 28655.
