Eddie Lee Buchanan

Eddie Lee Buchanan, 74, of Ridgecreek Dr. in Morganton died Friday, October 31, 2008 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. He was born November 25, 1933 in Pound, VA and was a son of the late Clifford and Goldie Newson Buchanan. Eddie served in the US Air Force for 10 years and was a retired employee of the Morganton US Post Office. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he served on several committees including the finance committee and the pre-school Board of Directors. Eddie was a faithful member of the Adult Men’s Sunday school class and was the financial advisor for the "Touch the World Ministry".He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anne Franklin Buchanan, of the home; daughters, Robbin D. Buchanan of Morganton, and Debbie Ogle and her husband, Gary, of Rutherford College; granddaughters, Deanna Parks of Morganton and Kristy Ogle of Rutherford College; a brother, Ivens Buchanan of Rockville, MD; half-brothers, Woodrow Buchanan and Nat Buchanan and his wife, Janice, all of Johnson City, TN, and Howard Buchanan of Erwin, TN; a half-sister, Bessie Thomas and her husband, L. G., of Johnson City, TN; and a special cousin, J. L. Hughes and his wife, Frankie, of Cheraw, SC.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Buchanan, Jr. and by a sister, Janice Butler.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Murdock and Rev. Rob Castle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. At other times the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Youth Building Fund, 1112 Hopewell Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
