Eddie Wright

Eddie Wright, 71, of Morganton, NC went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 16, 2015 after a 15 year battle with cancer.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Vess Wright and Wilma Wright.  Eddie was a Christian and a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and former teacher of the RAs.  Mr. Wright was a licensed contractor who built many homes in the area and was a partner in E.E.R. Construction Company.  Even after retiring he continued to use his carpentry skills to minister to many people in the area.  Eddie always enjoyed building, repairing, and being a witness for others.  He was a gentle, kind, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, Suzanne Wright of the home; children, Curtis Wright, Colleen Brittain and her husband, Jeff, Craig Wright, Claudette Wright, and Ann Marie McNeely and her husband, Marty, all of Morganton, and Mark Radaskiewiez and his wife, Tammy, of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, James Wright, Devan Brittain, Alex Brittain, Kaleb Wright, Christopher Carroll, Landon Collingwood, and Mark Adams; a brother, Jimmy Wright of Morganton; a sister, Maxine Stacy of Morganton; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Marilyn Englin Wright; and brothers, Theron, Verlin, and Haskel Wright.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held in the church at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Shawn Thomas and Dr. Dewey Thomas, retired pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
