Edith Fox Bishop

Edith Fox Bishop, 87, of Ayden, NC died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at her residence. Born September 15, 1925 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late John William Fox and Della Scott Fox. Edith was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Grace Hospital. She loved working in her flower gardens.She is survived by a daughter, Susan Bishop Gale of Kinston, NC; a son-in-law, John B. Gale of Raleigh, NC; grandson, Rev. Brooks H. Gale and wife, Dawn, of Cordova, NC; great-grandchildren, Kara, Kayla, and Kylie Gale; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Edith was raised with nine brothers and sisters. They include Lee, John W., Charlie, Ulysses, and James Fox, Nora Whisnant, Violet Black, Louise Sain, and Ann Cannon.In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Hamp Bishop; and a grandson, John Grant Gale.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Brooks H. Gale officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
