Edna Butler Carswell

Edna Butler Carswell, 80, of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home.  Born in Burke County, NC on September 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. Butler and Donie Chapman Butler.  Edna was an active member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church and retired from the Burke County School System.  She enjoyed baking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Carswell is survived by her son, Brian Carswell and wife, Wendy, of Morganton; daughters, Debbie Carswell Triplett and husband, Dennis, of Elon, NC and Karen Carswell Sain and husband, Stephen, of Boiling Springs, NC; grandchildren, William Sain and wife, Ginger, Spencer Sain, Jessica Carswell, and Blake Carswell; and a great-grandchild, Isaiah Sain.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Carswell; brothers, Fred and Ted Butler; and sisters, Jessie Cook, Betty Braswell, Margaret Smith, and Mildred Butler.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm, Monday, December 26, 2016 at Carswell Memorial Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 pm at the church with the Rev. Isaac Propst officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
