Edna Lillie Whisenant Stillwell

Edna Lillie Whisenant Stillwell, 78, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2008 while at Grace Heights Nursing Home. She previously resided on Jamestown Road. Born on November 8, 1929 in Burke County she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Gladys Miller Whisenant. Edna was a life-long member of Zion Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Skyland Textile with 25 years of service. She enjoyed staying on the campground throughout the summer, fishing with her husband, and being with family and friends. She also loved her canine friend, Taz, who was always at her side. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother who died at birth, Baby Whisenant, and by her step-mother, Lillian Loven Whisenant.Edna is survived by her husband, Howard Junior "Cotton" Stillwell, of the home; three daughters, Gladys Conley and her husband, Tommy, Pat Condrey and her husband, Eddie, and Mae Flynn and her husband, Sammy, all of Morganton; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Bailey, Tina Wilson, Vickie Flynn, Ben Flynn, Beth Pearson, Christopher Conley and Christy Conley; ten great-grandchildren; and other special family members, Renee Bailey, Adam Wilson, Gil Little, Brittany Gilliland, D.J. Davis, and Heath Carroll. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Moses and her husband, Ernest, and by a brother, Harrison Junior Whisenant and his wife, June, all of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. David Orders officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home, 1946 Jamestown Rd., Morganton.
