Edna York Jackson, 86, of Morganton died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. She was born June 12, 1928 to the late Tilden McClure York and Ada Buff York. Edna was a retired employee of Valdese Weavers. She was a member of the Friendly Tuesday Club and of the City of Morganton Senior Citizens Club, and an avid gardener who loved canning. After retirement she enjoyed sitting on her deck in the shadow of Burkemont mountain and watching the cows in "Wayne's Valley".
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Lynn Jackson; brothers, Lee, Everette and Roy York.
Edna is survived by son, Johnny Alan Jackson of Mims, FL; daughter, Judy Jackson Phillips and husband, Wayne of Morganton; grandchildren, Jason Jackson and wife, Michelle, Jonathan Jackson and wife, Karen, Jessica Manning and husband, Terry all of Fl and Wesley Phillips of Morganton; great grandchildren, Julia, Joel, Dayanna Jackson and Jackson and June Manning; brother, Gary York of Drexel; Special Niece, Dottie Feimster and a number of other nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Church of Christ with Minister of the Church of Christ, Jeff Lovitt, officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of Christ, 404 Lenoir Rd., Morganton, NC or to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
