Edward "Bud" Towery

Edward "Bud" Towery, 84, of Morganton died Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Rutherford County, NC on August 15, 1928, he is the son of the late Mack Oliver Towery and Eva McCurry Towery. Bud was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid western novel reader and enjoyed meeting and talking with everyone.Bud is survived by his sisters-in-law, Margaret Foreman and husband, Mack, of Morganton, Judy Rhyne and her husband, Jerry, of Gastonia, and Mary Reid of Charlotte; and a number of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and cousins.In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Patton Towery; Willie and Solen McCurry, who raised Bud as their own; and a sister, Jean Robertson.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2012 at Denton’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Cynthia Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and Caldwell Veterans Honor Guard.
