Edward Conald Thompson

Edward Conald Thompson, 82, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 5, 2018. Born August 15, 1935 in Cherokee County, NC, he was the son of the late Isaac Theodore Thompson and Maude Younce Thompson. He was a very loving, devoted father, grandfather and all-around family man, he was always there for his family. Edward had a great love for life and loved gardening and farming. He had the ability to make everyone around him comfortable and never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Taylor Thompson; brothers, Isaac Thompson and James Theodore Thompson; sisters, Lucille Whitner, Willa Mae Evans, and Imogene Beeler.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah Thompson; son, Gary Thompson and his wife, Debbie; beloved grandchildren, Dustin Thompson and his wife, Megan, Brandon Thompson, Justin Randolph, Cody Thompson; beloved great-grandchildren, Shelbi Thompson, Kyleigh Thompson, and Weston Thompson; and companion, Betty Mearl Jump.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Pastor Jeff Burkhimer and Pastor Adam Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Burkemont Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
